Message outputs allows you to configure messaging settings. The menu contains items for managing outputs, defining default outputs and items for configuring particular outputs like email or jabber.

Manage Message outputs

The page summarises which messaging outputs you have in the system. You can enable or disable particular outputs and proceed to the message output system configuration screen. The outputs that are not configured are highlighted and cannot be used in the system. Disabled outputs cannot be used in the system either.

Default message outputs

Default message outputs page displays a grid that contains the default preferences for chosen messaging type and output.

The default preferences menu for each item is identical and allows the administrator to choose permission and the default setting when the user is logged-in or offline. The possible preferences are:

  • Disallowed: The message of chosen type will never be delivered through the chosen output, the user is not allowed to change the personal preference for this combination of message type and output.
  • Permitted: The message of chosen type is allowed to be delivered through the chosen output, the default preferences can be set by the administrator using the checkboxes below, the user can control this preference on the messaging preferences page (and change the suggested defaults to their preference).
  • Forced: The message of chosen type will be delivered through the chosen output, the user is not allowed to change the personal preference for this combination of message type and output.

Configuration for users

A user can configure the messaging preferences in their profile settings. If the particular combination of message type and output is permitted by administrator, the user may change the preferences by ticking off the corresponding boxes.
