The Totara Mobile app allows Learners to access and complete their assigned learning on their mobile devices, and even complete SCORM learning offline. The app displays learning activities and resources in a mobile-friendly format, and lets Learners review their assigned programs, certifications and courses.

Before you can start using the mobile app you need to enable it by going to the quick-access menu and Plugins > Mobile > Mobile settings

Setting

Description

Enable mobile app

Site Administrators can enable this setting by ticking the checkbox. The default setting is No, meaning the mobile app is disabled.

When this setting is turned on the web services are enabled for the Totara app or other apps or other apps requesting them up.

URL scheme

Here you can enter a URL if you want to allow your app to be opened via a browser window.

If you have one you can enter your organisation's mobile URL here.

You can then set up the app's authentication methods by going to Plugins > Mobile > Mobile authentication. Additionally, you can configure the app's theme by navigating to Plugins > Mobile > Mobile theme, ensuring that the app aligns with your site's look and feel.

You can find out more about the Totara Mobile app on the dedicated Mobile help site. A number of features work differently in the app compared to the desktop version.

If you are using Apache + mod_php, CGI, or PHP-FPM, and intend to use the Totara Mobile app then you will need to additionally add the following directive to your VirtualHost entry for the site in order for Apache to correctly pass the authentication headers required by the mobile app:

SetEnvIf Authorization "(.*)" HTTP_AUTHORIZATION=$1
